Nancy Jane Nichols Morris was born in Atlanta, Texas on January 14, 1949 to Dr. T.K. and Rosalie Price Nichols. She has an older sister, Diane, and a twin brother, Tommy. She graduated from Atlanta High School in 1967 and then attended Southern Methodist University, Dallas where she was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art education in 1971. She met Dave in September 1967 and they married after their sophomore year at SMU.
David Bruce Morris was born in Dallas, Texas on April 21, 1949 to Robert B. and Marion Rutter Morris. He had an older brother, Don, who died in 2016, and has a twin brother, Steve. Dave graduated from St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas in 1967 and then went to Southern Methodist University on a basketball scholarship. He met Nancy the first week of their freshman year at SMU and they married in the summer of 1969. After graduating from SMU in the summer of 1970, Dave attended the University of Texas (Southwestern) Medical School in Dallas from which he received his M. D. in May 1974. He completed a 3-year Family Medicine residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the United States Army Medical Corps on teaching staff at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. From Georgia, Dave and his family moved to Atlanta, Texas where he practiced Family Medicine for 31 years.
In June 1973, Dave and Nancy welcomed their first daughter, Diane Elizabeth. In February 1976 they were blessed with the arrival of their second daughter, Katherine Jane. Both of their daughters are married. Diane first married Paul Peterson, with whom she had two sons, David and William. Katherine married Ed Wattenbarger and became a step-mom to Emily and Tommy.
In 2009, Diane’s husband Paul died from cancer and two pre-adolescent boys needed their grandparents. In 2010, Dave and Nancy moved to Katy, Texas to be near both of their daughters and their families. Dave became a Family Physician with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic where he practiced for 9 years. Diane married David Miller, bringing three more children…Ben, Abby, and Jack…into her household to join her two boys. The Morrises now have seven grandchildren!
Dave and Nancy visited Christ Church (PCA) their first Sunday in Katy; they knew they had found their new church home. Nancy has served as the lead for Women’s Ministry and a group leader for Bible study. Dave, who was ordained as an elder in June 2012, continues to teach a men’s Bible study and Sunday School classes.
